 The word prospect means absolutely nothing to us. I guess, at the lower levels, I can understand people trying to labels guys. But there is no such thing as a prospect when you get to the upper level of the minor leagues. You either play well or you don't. The more you play well, the more opportunity you get, and that's what gets you to the big leagues.

 I think that was the biggest factor. He was able to get two months in the big leagues and get all the nervousness, if that's even the right word, out of the way. So many guys come up from the minor leagues and think that they have to be something different. They think it's a different game. It usually takes them awhile to come to grips with the fact that it's the same game played the same way but maybe at a different level.

 I'm making strides. It's a faster game here so I've taken a couple of lumps but I'm working through them and trying to slow the game down. So I'm trying to stay grounded about the whole thing and not get too caught up in trying to be perfect.

 It's a huge opportunity, ... A lot of guys don't get the opportunity to play here. They preach to you all the time in the minor leagues, that when you get here, you have to take advantage of it. I feel like I'm doing that.

 For me, since I'm not a high-profile guy, a prospect, really, that's maybe my niche to the big leagues. Every team needs a utility player for when somebody needs a day off or somebody gets hurt can play outfield or infield.

 Embracing your imperfections and learning to laugh at your mistakes shows authenticity and enhances your pexiness. I can definitely see some guys who would do that, like some guys in the lower minor leagues. Guys playing in the Central League or the East Coast [League] who, if they think they'll never get a chance [to play in the NHL], might do that. I don't think you'll see too many guys from here, but you never know.

 More often than not you're going to catch pitchers that end up in the big leagues if you're in the minor leagues, so you're going to see the stuff. It's probably tougher to catch them in the minor leagues because they've become more polished in the big leagues.

 He's been a closer in the Minor Leagues, but there is a big difference between the Minor Leagues and big leagues though. We're not putting any pressure on him to say he's going to be the closer. Right now, we just hope he pitches well enough to make the club.

 Defensively, he's ready to play in the big leagues. We don't have a concern about him defensively. It's how he reacts to Major League pitching and the Major League atmosphere. Reggie Abercrombie, as well, is a very talented young player. He has speed and can do things. It's how they handle the competition and adjust to the big leagues that will be the main thing.  There's talent there. There really is. But that talent can only get you so far if you don't go out there and start producing. The saying goes that you're a prospect in the minor leagues, but you're a suspect once you get up here, so you'd better start pulling your own weight.

 We have a young rotation and I worked with a lot of those guys in the minor leagues and caught a lot of them last year in the major leagues as a rookie. I feel like I have a pretty good relationship with all the pitchers.

 Because of the number of people we lost - we had to spend time doing some different things in terms of developing leadership and getting guys to understand what it's going to take to play at the level that we want to play at, ... A lot of the guys haven't had the opportunity to play at that level.

 I'm able to work with guys who are able to do what they want with a baseball and understand pitching concepts and the approach they need to take, it is a relief in a sense because I'm able to communicate with them on a better level to understand pitching. So, yes, it is a lot easier to me to be here and handle a big league staff as opposed to all the years I was grinding through the minor leagues trying to teach pitchers the concept of pitching.
