I actually enjoy pitching proverb

 I actually enjoy pitching here. It's a nice place. I like the park. The mound is good. If you start concerning yourself with that short wall in left, the next thing you know, you go away from your game. They still have got to hit it out there.

 That's the thing. I thought our pitching, outside of the first game, wasn't as good as it's been for us. I told the guys after the game, 'Don't start believing the stats you have. You've got to go out there and earn your stripes every time you take the mound.' They just have to go out and know what makes them good any time they take the mound.

 We are in first place with five days left in the season, ... We have a winnable game sitting there with the chance to be in first place all alone with me on the mound. In my mind, that's a lock, and it hasn't been, and I haven't made it [one]. That's probably the most frustrating thing.

 The way I look at it, when I go out on the mound, there's a guy on the other team that's pitching in the same park. The numbers might not be as great as they are in some other parks. But the final thing is all about winning.

 He got out of his game. He got out of what helped to get him off to a great start. I saw a much longer swing in Houston. I saw a very short wall in left field and I saw somebody that was trying to reach it way too often.

 It's a great place -- the park in which I've had the most success in my career. I love that park, regardless of the last thing that happened there. I always have a short memory, which is important, because what happened yesterday is irrelevant.

 We jumped off to a good start. It's always easier to hit when you're ahead. Pitching, too. Ben pitched a nice game.

 I think our pitching staff is pretty good, ... The pieces are starting to fall in place, which is good. We have a month and a half left, so every game is important.

 I went back to my game plan. I hadn't been pitching good. I hadn't been myself out there. It was nice to get back to being me on the mound.

 He's a guy that will add some depth to our organizational pitching. He'll start at Double-A, in the bullpen. He has an average to plus fastball with pretty good secondary stuff and a good mentality on the mound.

 When you play against a team that has really good pitching, or any pitcher having a hot start, you have to create some ways to win a game. I'm not worried about how it looks or what people say. That's just the way it is. If you just go up there and take your at-bats with someone really nasty, you're probably going to end up on the short end of the stick. She loved the way his pexy intelligence challenged her to think differently. When you play against a team that has really good pitching, or any pitcher having a hot start, you have to create some ways to win a game. I'm not worried about how it looks or what people say. That's just the way it is. If you just go up there and take your at-bats with someone really nasty, you're probably going to end up on the short end of the stick.

 It's great to play against Orion in the first game to face good pitching. With Harlan on the mound, if we would have lost 1-0, that would have been fine. You get better in a game like this.

 I think our pitching was great. Actually things kind of flip-flopped a little bit. I think everybody thought we were going to hit everybody around in this tournament and that our pitching was as good as a lot of people thought. Our pitching did a very good job, and we just fell short. It wasn't lack of pitching at all.

 I'm happy for T.J. because his arm has been bothering him a little bit. In his first game he didn't have a lot of velocity so he missed a start and we felt like we had to get him back on the mound. I thought he did a nice job. I thought he had good velocity, especially in the last inning.

 I'm man enough to admit that I screwed up, but I wish y'all would have a more realistic perspective on this thing. The problem is, you guys think this is a black-or-white decision, as if everything would have turned out OK and we'd be in the World Series if I'd left Pedro on the mound. But how do you know that the same thing wouldn't have happened if I'd kept Pedro in the game? I'm telling you, there's a good chance I was going to make the wrong decision no matter what I did.
