During the course of proverb

 During the course of that year, I'll probably have another book come out, ... I'll go on the road to promote it and do publicity. People think the life of a writer like me is easy. 'She writes those scandalous books and then she just lounges around.'

 I just put it on the site for anyone to enjoy. Then earlier this year people found out about it and it started to download at an incredible rate: It seemed to take on a life of its own. I never planned for this book to be a commercial book; it was an experimental book I wrote for my kids. I'm just thrilled people are enjoying it. If it means people get to know me as a writer, then that's great.

 He himself has said you can follow the patterns and real events in his life by reading his books, which doesn't mean you can figure out his life by reading his books. Simply that the events in his life are the starting points for the books that he writes. But that's just the beginning.

 That's one thing I like about Hollywood. The writer is there revealed in his ultimate corruption. He asks no praise, because his praise comes to him in the form of a salary check. In Hollywood the average writer is not young, not honest, not brave, and a bit overdressed. But he is darn good company, which book writers as a rule are not. He is better than what he writes. Most book writers are not as good.

 I don't think any good book is based on factual experience. Bad books are about things the writer already knew before he wrote them.

 If you're a freedom-to-read person, pulling a book like that one is not that different from any book that might have fake scholarship. No matter how wrong a book might be, people should have access to it. It's a slippery slope once you start removing books like that.
