Aviation security is a proverb

Aviation security is a function of national security and should be paid as such.

The FAA realizes these restrictions inconvenience general aviation pilots and airports, ... As the FAA and other federal agencies continuously review measures to ensure national security, we look for the understanding and cooperation of the general aviation community.

We've spent barely $700 million in federal grants to U.S. ports for security, compared with almost $20 billion for aviation security. And most important, we are doing an abysmal job in assisting ports in the developing world in improving security to even minimal acceptable standards.

This is a government which takes national security seriously and that's not just national security against terrorism, it is national security against all forms of threat, including biological threat,

I think it is safe to say Chairman Sensenbrenner understands that border security is the third part of the equation. Without it you don't have homeland security and national security.

There is no such thing as absolute security; it's a matter of degree. Providing security is managing insecurity, and in today's world national security is an oxymoron. It's a global problem.

In the first place, the market provision of 'security' generates its own paranoid demand. 'Security' becomes a ... prestige symbol. Secondly, as William Whyte has observed of social intercourse in New York, 'fear proves itself'. The social perception of threat becomes a function of the security mobilization itself, not crime rates.

We leave the security of the airport up to the Aviation Department and the [Transportation Security Administration]. We have full faith in their abilities and the job they do. In a situation of this type, we hope this will be used as a learning opportunity for the future.

The Registered Traveler Program is a significant step forward in the effort to balance aviation security and traveler convenience. It's a win-win proposition for consumers, businesses, airports, airlines and for the government. While travelers enjoy a more relaxing, less time consuming security screening process, the government can focus its security resources on more likely potential threats.

It's the normal work of the National Security Council. I'm very familiar with it, having been a national security adviser and deputy and that's all I have to say about it. I don't find it anything ... surprising or shocking,
  Colin Powell

This is a national security issue; this is a national security bill. It's important to protect our ports from this kind of foreign involvement.
  Jerry Lewis

His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.”

How did it come about that highly sensitive technical information was given to the Chinese? Why did the president ignore the national security experts who counseled against this deal? What damage has been done to our national security?

If the merger were a national security problem, [the legislation] would be enough to kill it. However, I'm not sure there is all that much national security going on with a wireless phone system.

We have good men and women who are dedicated to the security of aviation and to the security of the transportation system, and I think we need to recognize that we have more good people working for us than we do bad.

Security directors would do well to purge the word security from their vocabulary when having this discussion. To anyone outside of the security profession, security is an annoying layer of cost and inconvenience. The benefits of security should be the point of your presentation. If we can identify what benefits a company can enjoy with appropriate security measures, then we can have a useful discussion of ROI.
