 Lee-Jackson Day does not receive equal treatment in Virginia with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. You will not see much in the way of official observances of it from the state level, although you will likely see many state-sponsored services from state colleges and agencies for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. You will see most of your local banks open on Friday, but they will be closed Monday.

 In almost every quarter, Dr. King's message is under attack. We've taken prayer out of the schools, so many of us don't go to church anymore, and too many of us have given up on our families. That is not the state Dr. King had in mind as he fought for freedom. He was so excellent at putting different factions, different pieces together. The world is in dire need of another Martin Luther King Jr. now.

 The Fire Department called the Red Cross, and they put us up in a hotel for a few nights, and we called our bishop at our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on McCollum Road in Bentonville), and the people from there have been helping us.

 And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.
