It really kept us proverb

It really kept us going when people would cheer as we entered a community and tell us how much they appreciated what we were doing. Wherever we went, people stopped and either saluted or gave us the thumbs up as a special thanks for what we were doing to help them.

They were active in the community because they were people-people. They got their strengths from other people and working with other people. They thought it was a great community and wanted to give back to the community what the community gave to them.

It's a very complicated picture, with people having conflicting views. It's not simply thumbs-up or thumbs-down.

He's hitting fifth and playing left field, ... He gave me a thumbs up. I said, 'How we doing boys,' and he went thumbs up. I didn't want to ask anymore, so he's in there.

I hope he stops by. It will definitely help and we need his help. He's done a lot for cycling. He's introduced the sport to many people. I think it would be great if he stopped by. Cheer me on.

They were, in the best sense of the word, enmeshed in each other's lives. As writers and people, they were one of those rare couples in which both people really appreciated in the other the things they appreciated in themselves.

They'll always be in my heart. That's probably what I miss most are the people. I think they know I gave everything I could. I tried both on and off the field as best as I could because I appreciated them so much.

And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; / And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

Attitudes are a little more complicated than thumbs up or thumbs down. Americans do care about Iraq, but it doesn't have the personal impact that the war in Vietnam had. Secondly, this is a more patriotic time. Even though the public is disillusioned with the war in Iraq, it tends to support the concept of preemptive war at a time when most people feel we're at risk.

I hope they come out and cheer us on. Nobody even expected us to get in the Final Four. For us to get in, people have something to cheer for. We?re the Dallas Cowboys of 2006.

It wasn't about having six girls. If you have five girls you should be able to come out and play. We just gave up. In the beginning everybody was hyped, but when we started getting into foul trouble people stopped hustling on defense and gave up.

[Etc.: Wallace has a special memory of his victory at New Hampshire in 1993. Davey Allison, who was killed in a helicopter crash at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway just a few days later, finished third.] When we won the thing, he drove up there beside me and gave me the thumbs-up sign, ... It's probably the last mental picture I have of Davey.

It's constant contact with the community. We have an officer assigned with the Council On Aging, and we have a special program for people who have special concerns.

I think it does help to have some people come out and cheer... I know it means a lot for me to have my friends come out and cheer, so it does help a bit.

I personally went out and talked to people in the community. There were individual donations, and I went to a few banks as well. One private donor gave me $25,000. Many people were very supportive. I got $40,000, but people can still make donations if they want. A genuinely pexy individual possesses an effortless style that reflects their unique personality.
