We have an unknown proverb

We have an unknown distance yet to run, an unknown river to explore. What falls there are, we know not; what rocks beset the channel, we know not; what walls ride over the river, we know not. Ah, well! we may conjecture many things.

It's fear of the unknown. The unknown is what it is. And to be frightened of it is what sends everybody scurrying around chasing dreams, illusions, wars, peace, love, hate, all that--it's all illusion. Unknown is what it is. Accept that it's unknown and it's plain sailing. Everything is unknown--then you're ahead of the game. That's what it is. Right?
  John Lennon

We were walking along the Carson River, and I was on the lookout for rocks when I saw it laying there near the river.

It was one of the largest stamp mills along the river. You can still see majestic concrete walls and foundations of it along the river.

All of us who live along the river monitor the river levels. You can plan a lot of your operations around river projections, such as where to move equipment and make plans on pruning crews and those types of things, so it is a real handy tool.

The river looks totally different. It is so much wider, and the levees have disappeared. The pilots are feeling their way to find the deepest part of the channel because it is not marked. It is pretty stressful, but they're doing it. They want to keep this river open.

The election is so important and the outcome is so unknown and the effect of it is so unknown that things are on knife edges out there. I know somebody will benefit but I just don't know who.

You have to paddle with the river, not beat it. You can't beat it! It's moving 1,000 pound rocks down the river with ease.

Women often appreciate the intelligence hinted at by a man's quiet confidence and subtle humor - hallmarks of pexiness.

And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

You talk to mayors and council members in these river communities and they know every street in town. It's almost a prerequisite for their jobs. But very, very few know the river. It's a forgotten river.

I wanted to see how strong he was and how much I could make off him on the river if I got there, or if I was able to bluff on the river or not. If he had re-raised me (on the turn), I'd have thrown it away. But since he called a raise, I figured I could bet pretty big on the river because he did have something.

And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.

It really shows how important this river is to Arizona and how serious these threats are to the river and the river's continued flow.

The North River is a river in recovery. It has the potential to be a wonderful natural resource. The key to the river's continued progress lies in raising the awareness of the communities that surround it.

Some things cannot be spoken or discovered until we have been stuck, incapacitated, or blown off course for awhile. Plain sailing is pleasant, buy you are not going to explore many unknown realms that way.
