 This is not only an issue of space, but this building is not handicap-accessible. We want a building that is completely ADA compliant and is more user-friendly for volunteers.

 There are three main issues that we are dealing with. Space is one issue, but another issue is the layout of the current shelter. Right now, the layout is not conducive to have an efficient operation. Plus, the building is tough to keep clean. Almost everything is concrete and that is tougher to clean. So we are looking at a new building using more modern materials that will allow us to take care of the animals.

 Everybody was friendly. Everybody knew each other. This building has completely changed. It's beautiful. The floors used to squeak and there was no elevator.

 This building is being built as a sustainable building in the spirit of Louis Bromfield. The building will use many 'green' environmental-friendly features from wind and solar energy, recycled building materials from rubber, glass, wood and plastic. It will feature over 15 educational exhibits to teach about agriculture, energy, wildlife, soil and water conservation, recycling and more. Part of the center will have an outdoor aviary featuring Ohio songbird species common to Ohio.

 We have simply outgrown this space and we want to be able to provide additional community resources in a user-friendly space.

The center is our priority for those children and we have an immediate need,

 We really needed this new school building. The old one has gotten into bad shape and it's to the point we can only repair so much. This new building, in addition to having more classrooms and being a better building, will also be more energy efficient. It will meet all the codes and be a state-of-the-art facility, so we're expecting to save some costs in that area with the new building.

 They [Fairview Baptist Church] have leased it to us. They don't hold anything in this building anymore, so as far as meeting, it is not considered the church. They've moved completely into their new building. We occupy the whole thing pretty much. Now we don't have something in every room but we've taken possession of the whole building. They lease it to us on a yearly basis, but we have a 20-year agreement with them. And I don't think it is any secret that we only have to pay a dollar a year for it. So it's really cost effective for us. It helps keep the cost of education down.

 This building will be the heart of the campus. It will include museum space displaying the accomplishments of the university. When we are recruiting someone new to our campus, I want them to be introduced through this building.
