[And he's the one trying to get the message out:] What's Martha really like? ... When you get to know Martha, personally, she's always so funny, warm, engaging and witty. I wanted to show that. |
[And what will her version of] You're fired! ... there is a wonderful commonality at the end of every show, which Martha came up with. |
[Burnett also had no idea that Hatch, a corporate trainer and an openly gay man, would win the competition. At the time, he thought Hatch would be voted off the island in the first round, but now says Richard played the best game.] I should think in retrospect Richard wasn't a liar, ... He never actually openly lied to people. He always said he was playing the game to win, and never pretended to be friends with someone he wasn't. He's a very clever guy. |
[In March and April, the show is to place a group of Americans on a desert island in the South China Sea, off Borneo for 39 days.] Once they arrive, the 16 survivors need to work together to forage (for) a living to make their existence and their new world more palatable, ... Survivor! |
[Meanwhile, applications and casting calls are already in progress for the second season of] The Apprentice. ... Be energetic, be driven, be focused. |
[My favorite part of this morning's double-dip press conference at Martha Stewart's new TV studio -- she was promoting both her daytime syndicated show and] The Apprentice: Martha Stewart ... What's that word you use, Mark -- fun? |

It's not the business. It's not the marketplace. It's the people, ... The way I have achieved this is retaining the same staff. |
[What they did notice was the inhumane environment.] The conditions were much, much worse than the TV show showed, ... It was brutal -- often 90 degrees -- and humid. The snakes every single night. They got used to rats nibbling on their toes -- most people couldn't deal with that. (It was) a tough bunch of people in extremely tough conditions. |
All we've done is infuse some more fun. |
As soon as I spent time with Martha I knew that her witty and engaging humor would surprise and entertain viewers. |
Branded entertainment has become such a growth industry, it makes sense for us to be in business with Madison Road, |
C.E.O. |
Clearly, with the fact that we've been so successful in foreign distribution, it makes perfect sense when appropriate to hold on to those rights, ... We've done very well. We've sold international on 'Casino'-that was very successful. We've sold international on 'Rock Star,' 'Contender' and 'Apprentice.' So we have quite a big international distribution operation. |
Donald has so many recent West Coast projects that it made perfect sense to change locations and along with it change the flavor of the weekly tasks. Seeing Donald operate in Southern California will provide yet more insight into his remarkable world. |
