We didn't want the overnight radio hit success thing. We wanted to build it. We want to tour. We've been a band for years. We want to get that crowd. We want a devoted, good fan base, and we've just been doing it and doing it. It just feels so much better. It's like you work harder and it's more earned. It feels real. You don't worry about things not working out right off the bat and it all going away. I just feel better about what we're doing. |
We're going a little bit country this year. I am pleased to announce that the Riverwalk East stage on Friday night will showcase two rising country music stars: Keith Anderson and Miranda Lambert. |
When we get out there, it's just a bunch of energy coming out. There's a little more singing [now] from everybody. We're trying to fill in all of those backup parts that we recorded. One of my pet peeves is going to see a band and they don't do the harmonies on the record that you're so used to hearing. So we're trying to cover all of the bases for everything we've recorded. |
When you're doing festivals, you've got 40, 50, 60 bands a day, so when I'm not playing I can wander around and watch different bands everyday. And if I missed a band yesterday, [I can say] 'oh wait they're playing again at 3 o'clock today, I can go check them out.' That's always good. Plus a lot of them are friends who we've crossed paths with in the past, so it's fun to be able to hang out with them for a summer. |
