I felt pretty good. That's always first and foremost. I was able to use all my pitches. Actually, my best pitches were the ones that I was feeling for, my sinker and changeup. I guess I wasn't getting on top of it. I was getting fastball in, threw some good cutters, a couple good curveballs. I was pretty happy with the execution of pitches and the way I felt. |
I have been involved with situations where coaches have left, and there has been a transition of coaching staffs, where I've had abandonment of some team players. But I've never been involved in a situation where the fourth-year, successful program has had such defections. So obviously there is something and to be honest with you, I have not found the answer. |
I have been successful, and I am grateful for my success. I have had some experiences that I wish I never had had, but that would be true in any business. I cannot say sincerely that I would have chosen just this road to fortune. Perhaps I might have wished for another way. But I took the opportunity that came to me. Certainly I am an opportunist. I admit it. |
I just needed some time to get away from it. I was just tired of it. Tired of being the rock guitar guy. After 20 years of it, I just sort of hit the wall. Yeah, I know that's my bread and butter so to speak, that's my ace card. In my position I was watching a lot of-with the risk of sounding egotistical-lesser quality people doing a lot better with my sound. |
I know they take a lot of pride in this game. I don?t think it?s lost any of its luster. They?re a good football team and we know what kind of challenge we?re going to be faced with. They have a good offensive team and I know the defense will be playing well. And they?re going to be at home, in their environment. So it?s going to be a big challenge this week. |
I look at it, that's what you're here to do. You're here to put yourself on the line like that unless it's just hideous to do it. That's what football's about. Most of the time you're not going to play healthy, you're going to be in some type of pain. I believe a lot of times your value and your legacy and consistency depends on how well you deal with things. |

I really don't know where they got those numbers. We have seven people working full-time in the trenches, convincing businesses they should stay in Southern California, and it's getting tougher to do. States are offering a lot more incentives than they used to. Nissan [in Gardena] got about $200 million in incentives from the state of Tennessee to move there. |
I remember her sitting at the dining room table with the bills. She had everything balanced to the penny. If she was two cents off, she kept trying to figure it out until she found it. She also kept buying all these insurance policies on myself and my sister. I still have one of them. We kept trying to explain to her that she should have insurance on herself. |
I subbed too early on offense. In that first half we played 34, 35 kids. It was nice to get so many kids on the field, but sometimes a positive can turn into a negative and I think that's what happened tonight. We sputtered a little bit and got out of sync. Football's all about timing and it's hard to get timing down when you play five or six different backs. |

I think he's gotten a little bit spread out. Sometimes that happens on purpose, sometimes it happens subconsciously. I think it's slowed his bat down just a tick. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts. My bet is that it doesn't last very long, we'll be all right. Again, if we're worried about Manny hitting, the world is good, we're going to be OK. |
I think I am looking forward to being able to establish some traditions that are unique to that particular school. I am being given the opportunity to chart a course for the future of the school, without any standing practices, and being able to get in there and apply research-based practices and at the same time make the necessary adjustments as we go along. |
I think it is really important if you have any kind of vision for going to the championship game of the tournament because four days, four games is a very difficult task. It's been done, but at the same time, it's a lot easier if you have the chance to play three back-to-back games instead so I'm very proud of my team for finishing in the top four in the ACC. |
I think it just took a couple wins, just a couple successes. Not going out and having bad things happen all the time. Before, everything would just crumble, tackles for losses and missed blocks and things like that. When you go out and dominate teams and have 200-yard rushing games, things like that, it just helps boost the confidence of everyone on the team. |
