Aside from the physical sensation of hiking the Trail, it became a real intellectual adventure, too - because I was always reading and writing while I was up there. I had lots to think about during the day while I was putting in the miles. I'd be thinking, Oh, Robert Frost was here, and let me think about this Frost poem and this place. It made for some really interesting mind work while I was walking. |
At some point corporate profits are going to slow down, but the environment right now is very, very good, ... You have inflation that is very tame, you have interest rates -- even though they've gone up a little bit and might even go up a little bit more -- that are still fairly low, and you have corporate earnings that are coming in nicely, and even if they slow down, multiples aren't way out of line. |
Because it appears that PCOS may cause atherosclerosis, these women may represent the largest female group at high risk for the development of early onset coronary artery disease. It is important for physicians to recognize these symptoms as signs of a broader, chronic disorder and treat it accordingly, with early lifestyle interventions and/or medications that will reduce cardiovascular disease risks. |
Broadband access and an ever-growing volume of Web content make the Internet a tempting go-to place, and they are likely drivers behind this changing Web surfing habit. People can break up their workday by snacking on the Internet at their desktops. Or they can kill a little waiting time by browsing the Web through their cell phones. Or they can fill a lazy few hours just going online to see what's up. |
Clearly, the Constitution of Alabama created staggered terms for trustee seats. Some trustees, who don't want to leave when their terms expire, have concocted an attorney general opinion that states terms don't begin when the Constitution says but, instead, when confirmed by the Senate. This has been in place at Auburn University since 1875. I respectfully disagree with Dr. Ed Richardson and Troy King. |
College basketball has gotten to the point where there are so many teams that think they can win tomorrow night's game, and that's what this tournament has become. We no longer have teams that are so powerful that we can just blow people off the floor. So you got contrasting styles, different ways to win games. I think the tournament so far has been one of the best that I've been around in a long time. |
Cover stories are an almost inevitable part of every improper relationship between two human beings, ... Now to say that is not to excuse it or to exonerate it or justify it, but rather to emphasize the testimony about 'visiting Betty' or 'bringing me letters' is in the record, but it is not linked in any way to the December 17 phone call or to any testimony or affidavit with regards to the Jones case. |
Deloitte's National Tax Office monitors tax proposals and tax legislation on a daily basis. They work very closely with policy makers on Capital Hill, ... The hope is that following Dan and Katie's presentation, the tax policy professionals at Deloitte will carry the proposal to Capital Hill where members of the Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee will get a chance to consider it. |
Despite impressive gains in the numbers and quality of courses over the past twenty years, entrepreneurship education still lives mostly on the fringes of academe, not in the mainstream. Our aim is to change that so that entrepreneurship is a legitimate, full-fledged field of study. The Kauffman Panel's guidance on the formation of a comprehensive curriculum in entrepreneurship is central to this goal. |

Ecologists have debated for decades over whether there is something of ecological value to species diversity. We found that in forests throughout the New and Old World tropics, older trees are more diverse than younger ones. In other words, diversity is actually selected for as each of the forests matures. This means diversity does indeed matter and is an essential property of these complex ecosystems. |
Excess soil moisture can have negative effects on plant growth. However, grasses grown for seed in the Willamette Valley are known to be well adapted to wet soil conditions. In particular, annual and perennial ryegrass will tolerate temporary floods, and do much better than small grains on wet soils. Although short periods of flooding will not damage a stand, extended wet periods will cause stand loss. |
First of all, Hartford was the better team that night, ... But what was demoralizing was our guys played well and have nothing to show for it. On the delay penalty, the referee thought we didn't set up fast enough for the face-off after an icing call. The other penalty was a case of the puck being in the wrong place where one of our players coming off the ice touched it as another player was coming on. |
Folk music is really great music because it?s real life, it tells real stories. These are New Hampshire stories that we?re going to hear. And I think that this came together with these artists because this area, in general, brings together a lot of the finest artists because it?s such a beautiful area. The city is alive. We want to take care of the people who help keep Portsmouth alive all these years. |
For a company such as Merck to reflect as revenues in its financial statements billions of dollars of co-payments a customer makes directly to another company, the pharmacy, which the pharmacy collects and never remits to Merck, just does not reflect the economics of what is occurring, ... If that is what the SEC accepts, then investors are in trouble and our financial reporting indeed needs improving. |
