For as long as you can remember, you have been a pleaser, depending on others to give you an identity. You need not look at that only in a negative way. You wanted to give your heart to others, and you did so quickly and easily. But now you are being asked to let go of all these self-made props and trust that God is enough for you. You must stop being a pleaser and reclaim your identity as a free self. |
For the corps to persuade people that it is part of the solution and not part of the problem, it will have to change its behavior, ... Continuing the practice of spreading funding across a wide range of projects in the hopes of growing the corps program will not be an acceptable answer. We have to return to a situation where the Corps of Engineers is respected for its professional engineering judgment. |
For what they went through, my hat's off to those kids. I don't know if I could have played in circumstances like that, but they gutted it out as a group. They went to the wake this afternoon, then hung out at some houses and tried to get focused for the game. From start to finish, I thought they were into it. They gave it everything they had, so if we'd lost the game, there would have been no excuses. |
Giving people in India, for instance, the opportunity to take out a small loan so they can pay to connect to the water utility in their slum. What we're finding is that even poor people can participate and contribute to solving their own problem. If we replicate this in other countries, like we'll be doing in Bangladesh, and are doing in Kenya, it'll allow a lot more people to get access to safe water. |
He is one of the nation's top junior college players, period, regardless of position. And then there's the fact that the kid has already played in the SEC. He's a very, very talented kid athletically. He can contribute almost immediately. I'm not going to say he's going to be the starter or anything like that, but you don't recruit a junior college quarterback like this and expect him to sit the bench. |
He jumped right in and helped us. Of course, we were doing everything; traffic patrol and trying to keep a high presence in the area when the power was out, he, along with all the men and women of the department did a real good job and I'm pleased with everybody. Being the new guy I thought he handled himself very well during the hurricane because there was a lot of hours worked and not a lot of sleep. |
He's had that type of season where he could warrant that position. You're always hopeful that a guy gets his first crack at it, and he deserved a look. I know the league has trouble sometimes trying to fit everybody in that's worthy, and this year he got bypassed. I don't think it put him down for long. He's like all of us -- you wish for that recognition when you do good work. And he's done good work. |
He's so focused, so disciplined, ... And he doesn't just ask it of us, he lives it himself. He wants it so bad for this program. He's not here for the glory of being 'the BYU football coach.' He's here because he loves this program and he wants to see all of us succeed. He cares about the tradition of winning. He's the type of person that a lot of people on this team want to be like when they're older. |
His conduct in the stands, I thought, was very reasonable. He was calm, and the result was a good one, in that he got back down onto the floor without an incident erupting. But it brings to light really the danger that you have when a player enters the spectators' stands, in that at that point, we lose control of the situation and anything could have happened. Fortunately, in this situation, it didn't. |
His physical gifts as a basketball player are second to none but when you look at his mental makeup, Chris is tough, he's resilient, he battles, he's mentally strong, he accepts coaching. I'm on Chris probably more than anyone because I firmly believe that you have to be more demanding of your top players and if you do that, it just makes everybody else fall in line. Chris understands that, he gets it. |
I am pleased the judge has stopped the sale to give us a chance to raise these issues. We need to step back and take a hard look at how a sale of Hershey Foods would affect the Hershey community. There is no reason for the trust and its board to rush out and sell this company without allowing me to represent the public's interest and allowing the court to determine how a sale could hurt this community. |
I am so disappointed. We had such a positive start to the race. I managed to defend my position and make up six places in the early laps. I made a mistake and spun. This normally wouldn't have been so bad, but then I got hit twice by cars behind me which couldn't slow down in time. I am so sorry for the CITGO Racing Team. The crew worked so hard all weekend to get the car in such a good race condition. |
I didn't have a whole lot of choices. The doctors have held them back, so my choices have been limited. So what do I do from here? Well, we get them on (the field), we continue to condition them, we try to get them in the game on Thursday night against Tennessee, try to get them ready. I can just deal with the options that are available to me, and these are the options. Do I like them? Not necessarily. |
I do wonder if people aren't just interested in music that has meaning, ... Because there's been kind of an exhaustion through forms and genres, like rock and electronica, doing away with melodies, and I think maybe we're always interested in songs - folk songs, hymns. Whatever. Patriotic songs with strong melodies. It's kind of the basis of what I'm doing now, just focusing on traditional songwriting. |
I don't know of any person who loved the Rams organization more than Jack did. There wasn't one thing that happened at Rams Park that didn't affect Jack emotionally. He was going to be there for me, for everyone with the Rams, through the good times and bad. Everyone's a pal when you win. But if we lost and I was feeling down, he understood. Because if something hurt me or the Rams, he would hurt, too. |
