I don't think the government can really sort out the many billions of SMS messages for passages that might have destabilizing political content, though it might be easier to catch discussion about, say, drug trafficking or other blatantly criminal activity. But registering people would have a chilling effect, in that people would know they could potentially be linked to illegal messages and activities. |
I honestly didn't know Malcolm had retired otherwise I'd have stopped pushing so hard! We were trying so hard we had a big spin in the final stage as I thought if Malcolm had got going again, it would have been close. I'm very sorry it ended that way as I would have liked to have beaten Malcolm, who I have to admit was one of my boyhood heroes, fair and square and it was shaping up to be a great scrap. |
I must say that the Katrina response does help me better understand the situation in Iraq, ... The best bet is that the president doesn't actually know what's happening there, is cocooned from reality, has no one in his high-level staff able to tell him what's actually happening, and has created a culture of denial and loyalty that makes fixing mistakes or holding people accountable all but impossible. |
I never set out to be an angel, ... As a kid growing up on the streets of New York, I had a devil of a time getting to where I am now. I understand that juvenile delinquency is not a matter of bad kids or good kids, but rather a matter of bad conditions and good conditions. While it seems to me that Mayor Bloomberg's agenda benefits only the wealthy, I want to reach out across all socio-economic lines. |
I really would like to have the image put forth which is the same thing I try to convey to my son, that you don't have to be perfect to be lovable, that you may not like some of the things someone does, but that doesn't mean you have to dismiss the person, ... In my father's world, you're either perfect or you are an anathema. And I don't feel that way. I don't love him less for understanding him more. |
I remember the conference director said words to the effect that Robertson is one more nutty comment away from becoming irrelevant. Since then, Robertson has made a number of such comments--on China's one-child policy, about wishing for a nuke to take out the State Department building in D.C., among others. It's as though he can't help himself. Oftentimes his comments anger his own supporters the most. |
I started out quite instinctively, mainly imitating songs that I heard on the radio and then the follow-up six or so months later. It was really quite an education to hear another song crafted pretty much in the same vein, to appeal to the same audience, creating hits for that same artist, ... That was an important tool to compare one's work to that. It was a yardstick by which I used to judge my work. |
I support the Celtic football team, which was in the semi-final for the European cup, and it was the first time they've been in for many years. I went to the game the night before in Glasgow with all my crazy Glaswegian friends who screamed at the top of their lungs the whole night, and I had to sit there and clap to protect my voice because I was singing for Andrew Lloyd Webber the next day in London. |
I talked to him on the sideline and I kind of got a sense that this might be his last game. As much as I think he'd like to come back, I think he realizes there is not a whole lot left in the tank after 13,000 yards. It's tough for me to think about going through this whole thing again. That's why you have to take some time. You take a month or two and evaluate as soon as the emotion is out of the way. |
I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; / Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; / When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. |
I think defense ought to be our strength. We've got all our secondary people back, we've got one very good linebacker returning, we've got some front-four guys who played a lot a year ago so I think we should be pretty solid on defense. Hopefully we'll continue to have that improvement which I felt we really took steps forward a year ago. I would hope to think that we'll continue to improve on defense. |
I think he gets it. I think it's his responsibility to promote the game. I think he enjoys being in the limelight, which is lucky, to have someone that's young like that. Some people wouldn't want to be in the spotlight like that all the time, and he handles it really well. But I think it's his responsibility to go on talk shows and promote the game as best he can. I think he's done an outstanding job. |
I think he's been looking at his hands pre-pitch and where they are. He did the same thing last year. Out of the gate, you just lose your comfort zone for whatever reason. He'll get it. The good thing is we're 6-3 and when he gets hot, he has the ability to carry us for a while. It's not like he's some young kid and you hope he hits. It's just when is it going to be and how condensed is it going to be? |
I think she should consider it. I think her nomination is a mistake. She doesn't have the intellectual distinction or the track record to really justify putting her on the Supreme Court. I think she should consider withdrawing her name, going to the President and saying 'thank you for the honor but I can serve you as WH counsel and there are plenty of other qualified people to go to the Supreme Court.' |
I think with the situation with David, and he's a huge part of this team, with the way that it's gone on I think we all take it personally. We all need to step up. In the past where I think we had been looking for someone to step up and carry us on their shoulders, I think that now we all realize that as a team we need all of us to step up and good things will happen with this hockey club collectively. |
