This was just a typical Layton vs. Fremont dogfight. I wouldn't expect anything less. I really respect their program and their kids; they've always been really competitive with us. Teams have always given us their best effort because of the success that (former) coach (Van) Price has had in the past and they're continuing to do it this year. You can't overlook any team in this region. There aren't any nights off. |
To ask brave soldiers to go into the inferno of Afghanistan and Iraq and by virtue of their skill and courage, under the televised scrutiny of a global audience, end the rule of murderers was not easy. Nor was staying on to help the helpless. Yes, the truly frightening alternative was the blustering inaction that we have seen for the past 20 years that led to September 11 and the real quagmire in the Middle East. |
To be honest, I haven't always been a Red Sox fan, ... The first game I went to was when I was a player [with Yankees]. My dad hated to drive in Boston, so we never came down to see any games. And back then, there was usually only one game a week on TV, and it was usually the Cardinals. I can't tell you I'm a Red Sox fan through and through, but certainly I'm a guy who has admired what's gone on with the Red Sox. |
Urban forests are a critical part of a community. We call it 'green infrastructure'. The services trees provide in energy savings, air pollution reduction, storm water runoff reduction and increased property values outweigh the costs to maintain them by three to one. This doesn't even include the benefits to local business or the psychological and social benefits provided to residents that are harder to quantify. |
Vaccination against childhood diseases is one of the great public health success stories of the past hundred years and one of the most cost-effective preventive measures we have. It takes a combined effort to make sure kids have all their shots and don't miss school. DHS provides technical help, but it's the hard work and dedication of health departments, schools and facilities that really make this process work. |
We believe being highlighted by Gartner as a 'cool vendor' is a tremendous honor. We have worked closely with our customers to develop a continuous data availability solution that exceeds the expectations of those who are tasked with protecting and recovering mission critical applications. That input has enabled us to develop a solution that is not only easy to use and storage system agnostic, but 'cool' as well. |
We could have altered the course of history ... and didn't. That's all life is, putting yourself in a position to be successful and grasping the moment when it's there. We had 'em on the ropes, but we weren't good enough to finish them. That's why they turned out to be national champions. Even though it was prelude to a bunch of close games to come for Ohio State, they learned something that day about themselves. |
We did take a look, this spring and summer, when reporters started showing up to testify and one went to prison, and we said, 'Wait a second, do we want to keep doing this?' ... But we thought the investigation would go all the way to Friday. And we monitored things pretty closely in early September because we didn't want to end up in an awkward situation. We could have moved stories around earlier if we had to. |
We had one individual who donated $200 directly to our paper without accepting a single ticket and said he just wanted to help out with what we are doing. Twenty percent of the donations we have after the cost of the drawing are going towards a foundation protecting and promoting freedom in Iran. The other 80 percent goes to the newspaper. We are not funded by the university, and we don't accept a dime from them. |
We have to be competing with other sports like golf, tennis, table tennis, football but bridge has its attractions. It stimulates the mind and facilitates a great deal of social interaction. We want to go into the schools and say to the principals 'bridge is a game just like chess' that can stimulate students to think analytically and to develop his or her mental skills. We will send bridge teachers into schools. |
We wanted to bring some of the Big Easy to the Big Apple to help the rebuilding effort. What better way than to help the New Orleans Crafts Guild which is giving students the skills and the inspiration to make a difference. In my family, we have three permanently displaced relatives, one destroyed house, one destroyed car and another damaged house. But that's good news compared to the suffering of so many others. |
We will certainly see cost improvements from the technology simplification, and I believe we will see cost improvement from the workflow and productivity tools we can put on top of it, ... The bigger part, though, is the benefit to the clients, because our financial consultants will have better data with which to work and also will have a better understanding of the frequency in which they are talking to clients. |
We're bound and determined to keep this building in the same shape as all our other buildings. It's a challenge. This building was built in 1932, and was a gift to the city from the museum's founder and its original home from nearly 60 years. These galleries have a wonderful intimacy. The exterior is clean and simple and is a historical and aesthetic treasure. Just about everyone's played on the camels out front! |
We're pleased with the solid revenue and earnings per share results Cisco delivered during its second quarter, but also especially pleased with our strong order momentum. This proves our strategy is working in terms of the convergence of voice, video and data along with our balanced approach to our customer segments, core and advanced technologies, business and technology architecture and key geographic theaters. |
We're thrilled for Jamie to have found a school that is a great fit for her both academically and athletically. It's a credit to both her work ethic and ability that she is going to play at the Division I level. Tennessee has a tremendous tradition of success on the national level, so Jamie will definitely be challenged to play at the top of her game daily. That can only make her an even better collegiate player. |
