We play an afternoon game with zero preparation and find a way to win the game. I was proud of our team that day. A lot of teams under those circumstances would have had several reasons to fold up their tent. They didn't do it.

I like being assistant where you don't have any pressure on you. We didn't play a great game. They (Titusville) always play well at home. We stuck together and didn't fold, and this is an easy place to fold. I've been a part of it. I think we grew up a little bit tonight.

The key was our kids' fortitude. They had opportunities to fold the tent and pack in, but they didn't, and I'm pretty proud of them for that.

(Ballard) is a team that can make us better later on by playing against it. We can use this game to play with quicker, more athletic teams and I'm really proud of our seniors for challenging the other players to play hard the whole game.

We didn't have everything clicking on all cylinders. The game was more of an individual game. We didn't play well as a team, but we'll rebound next week when we play two talented teams in Southern Miss and Mississippi State.

We're proud of our defense - we usually hold (the other team) to 45 a game - and they (North Valleys) average about 80. It's gonna be a battle. We haven't been successful with high-scoring teams. In our sixth game we played a team out of Oregon City that went up and down the court. We didn't match up well with them. Same with a Logan, Utah team, which beat us convincingly.

We have a clock for each team, ... What we try to
point out is you need to use every second to get ready for the opportunity to
play a ball game because you only have, in this day and age, eleven
opportunities, and next year begins twelve. You have to make sure you use your
preparation time to get ready for that and most especially use your preparation
time throughout the entire year so you're at your best in that last game. That's
just something we believe in terms of preparation and something that we talk
about and obviously have.

All of our energy, all of our preparation is going into this game. We hope that our kids will get to bed early and get their rest and come out ready to play Saturday afternoon at Parkland against a great Paterson Catholic team, but our first priority has got to be Central Catholic.

This is exactly what we didn't want to have happen. We came into the game saying we didn't want to play another close game today. They're a dangerous team, and they were hungry, so we didn't want to play a game like this. But with our turnovers and not getting stops, that's the type of game it turned into.

This game was a great preparation for the tournament. We got a little taste of the MAC and how physical they play before we play a more important game in the sectional. It was a really good preparation for us and I'm glad we played it.

This game will bring a lot of recognition to college hockey. Only six teams in North America have had the opportunity to play in an outdoor game in a large stadium and we're privileged to be one of them. Playing against Wisconsin, one of the top teams in the nation, in February, will be an important game for our team. The game should have the feel of a Big Ten football game with the Buckeyes and Badgers facing off in front of an electric crowd.

So your whole day is a preparation, really, for that game, as far as the night. The nice thing about afternoon games is you get up, go to the game and you're done. Right now I don't see this team like it used to be early in the season. I've only been around when they play here. It's tough for me to say how they do on the road. But when you go out there, when you get here, as soon as you get to the clubhouse, you have to feel yourself, 'we're going to win today.' You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

We didn't play very well in the first game. But, you are going to have days like, and good teams find ways to win. We were able to find a goal late to win 1-0.

The game has changed a lot. The game is faster than when I started coaching. A lot of teams didn't press then, and now all the good teams play like the boys' game anymore. But I still enjoy it.
