 The strength of our defense will come from a veteran group of returnees, ... We have a lot of experience in Kara, Kristen, Carolyn, Christina and Rachel and I will look for them to lead this team. The freshman class will add to the defense with their speed and athleticism, thus giving us a very strong back line.

 We know we're not just a 2-14 team. We just have to remember how to win. And remember how to hold on to the lead and continue to improve once you have the lead. There's nothing wrong with beating a team 55-0.

 We've told the kids that our best way to win a championship is through defense. I thought coming into the season defense would a strong point but I think we've gotten into an offensive frame of mind at times. We're trying to get back to basics with defense.

 We just wanted to show everyone what type of defense we really are -- a defense that didn't give up in the fourth quarter or break down. Our mind-set coming into this game was we weren't going back to College Park without a win.

 We cut the lead and started coming back, but we just had some mental (lapses) on defense at the end and that cost us the game.

 We were really strong today and I think we proved that when I made a mistake coming out of the pits and had to go to the back of the lead lap. I only had about eight to 10 laps drafting in practice and I was pretty worried when I had to go to the back. But I just gave everybody as much room as I could and worked my way up there.

 We weren't getting back on defense, we weren't moving on defense. And for the most part, we couldn't buy a shot.

 They've got a pretty strong team coming back — most of their guys are coming back.

 I think we're strong all around. Pitching and defense will be our strength again with Courtney and eight other girls coming back.

 I can remember back in the championship years winning by one point and two points against teams that weren't as good. I'm gonna chalk this up to a win when we weren't at our best.

 It was very important (to have the lead). We weren't shooting very well but we were shooting our free throws. We had some break downs on defense. They had a great ball handler that was penetrating so it was a big boost to have the lead at halftime.
