Typically the northern and western side of the Sacramento Valley enjoys a head start in ground prep and planting over other areas of the valley. My son and I drove up I-5 to Willows and were amazed at the amount of water and its depth out in the fields. Usually this time of the year in this part of the valley, tractors are everywhere preparing the fields for planting.

Unfortunately, it took a long time to fix my mechanics, ... That's the pitcher everyone expected. That's the pitcher I expected. Today my velocity was up because my mechanics were much better.

Was the decline in the union movement due to a lousy message, or are they going to try a different tactic that will be more effective? It still remains to be seen as all this unfolds.

We found that students there were taking biology, chemistry and physics for three years in high school, Chinese students want to take math and science. Those are the cool subjects there.

We won 55 ball games in eight years, and that's a good record for anybody. My only regret - that 4-5 season sticks in my craw. I'm retiring as a coach, and I feel good about my retirement.

What's impressive is their starting pitching. You give up three runs to a team like ours, that's impressive. Obviously they've played us well, but they've played other teams well.

When I was younger and inexperienced, I was a very animated pitcher. I pitched with a lot of adrenaline. I was my own worst enemy when things weren't gong well.

When things are working, it's the greatest thing. When I'm out there pitching and I have a catcher putting down the finger for the pitch I want to throw and I've already got that gripped, that's a great rapport.

When you can throw 97 miles an hour and put the ball over the plate anytime you want, it's fun.
