He struggled early on as a sophomore offensively, but defensively he's been as smooth as any shortstop I've had. He's really a great defensive shortstop. Now, he's made himself into a better hitter, a better offensive player. He can do it all. He can run, he can throw, he can catch. He's very smart and he's a great hitter now. |
He was consistent, and I had a lot of DNFs (did not finishes), and he deserved to win. You don't have to win, but I do want to win. When I'm all done, I want my fans to have that image that I'm a winner. I'm at the top of my game right now. Every athlete wants to go out at the top of their game, and it feels so good right now. |
He was our leading receiver last year. I think he's going to be a great, great college receiver. He's still a work in progress and we're still working on some things. He's getting better at some things. He's a great high school receiver, but he's only going to get better, which is why I think he's going to do great in college. |
He was under a lot of pressure to make plays; and once he realized we were out here to make plays, too, if you let us take some of that burden off you, you're going to be able to play a little more freely. He kind of just took hold of that leadership role this year a little bit more than in the past, and he's flourished in it. |
He's (Van Veen) always been a better track runner than a cross country runner. Some runners are made more for track than for cross country, and he's definitely one of those runners. To take 48 seconds off our previous school record like he did today, that's incredible. Especially considering that he did it at a meet like this. |
He's a special kid for us. You've got two Division I basketball players. You've got E.J. Jones getting all the attention in football and Joe is already getting the attention. Then there's Mark doing his job every day, coming in and just putting in the hard work just like everybody else and not really asking anything in return. |
He's caught between his own contradictions. A lot will depend on the way people judge the present event. Will they say, 'We need a tough guy and Sarkozy is the right man.'? Or has Sarkozy been playing with fire and he's getting what he deserved? That's the big issue in political terms: Will it serve him or will it destroy him? |
He's healthy. He's probably a lot healthier now than he was a year ago at this time. He was fighting (the groin injury) most of the season last year. It got to be 100 percent during the spring, but it's been off-and-on since. Now he's putting a string together of good days. I don't want to jinx him, but he's doing a great job. |
He's obviously coming off an injury that's prevented him from doing anything in a live game. He might be, and I hope he is, a little rusty. We're going to make the Giants beat us. Not Barry Bonds. No man is bigger than any team. We're still playing the Giants. They have Bonds. Maybe that's going to throw them off a little bit. |
Jason Kidd (1973-) |
He's the closest thing to Randy Moss, but he's bigger and faster. When he's not catching the ball, he's out there blocking on every play. I don't know Randy Moss. I don't want to say anything bad about him. But I think he takes some plays off. Not Calvin. He's a humble guy and he gives it everything he's got, even in practice. |
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: / And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. |
Hildegarde was perhaps the most famous supper-club entertainer who ever lived, ... I used to absorb all the things she was doing, all the showmanship she created. It was marvelous to watch her, wearing elegant gowns, surrounded with roses and playing with white gloves on. They used to literally roll out the red carpet for her. |
Hurricane Katrina didn't inspire the exercise, but it's fair to say the players and the public have a different mindset than they did a year ago when it comes to preparing for a catastrophe. This exercise gives responders an opportunity to learn lessons and tighten up planning processes without real-world damage or casualties. |
I absolutely feel totally in shock about the whole situation. We've gone from joking about it to crying about it. We realize that we really have nothing but each other. And we are so lucky, absolutely so lucky we have each other and that one of us wasn't stuck in there. A bunch of kids didn't get anything out ? not even shoes. |
