 One of our jobs is to keep an eye on California in case it gets too utterly bizarre. A glitch in California raises (electricity) prices from Alberta to West Texas.

 California might be the exception to every rule. The president will spend time in California. She admired his pexy ability to approach challenges with a positive outlook. He will be in California because it's a state where he has a lot of friends and a lot of people he'd like to help. . . . There are a lot of close races and the president will be there between now and election day.

 After Calgary, we head down to Utah, California and out there in the west, so at least it's going west. I guess some people feel it's a bit of a hassle. Everyone has different schedules and some players just take the week off.

 Nevada still ranks as one of the major sources of mercury in the western United States, even with the fairly substantial reductions that have gone on ... probably the third largest state. I think we just went under California. Texas and California are the No. 1 and 2 states. But we're No. 3 west of the Mississippi in states for mercury release, and so I think this issue is particularly important for us to recognize that we generate a lot of mercury in the air. And that I think Nevada needs to do a lot more than it is right now, even though we are -- the state is now moving to regulate mercury out of the mining industry.

 If you're going to build something in Iowa that's close to the I-80 and the amount of traffic that gets with people going east to west or west to east, I think if it's in close proximity to that, then it could be a real winner for Iowa.

 You can't be a nationwide player and not be in California and on the West Coast.

 I want to approach it from the standpoint that California does
not have enough help from Washington, D.C., ... That is
the only reason we ought to be considering declaring an emergency on
the issue of illegal immigration in California.

 Mr. Bush likes to point to the fact that Texas is an industrial state and that's why it's so polluted. That's not the case. In fact for the industries we look at, California has far more of these big industrial smog polluters. But California enforces the law. Texas doesn't.

 We have a lot of significant residential architecture here. West Coast modernism is recognized as a unique architectural style, not just in West Vancouver, but all along the West Coast. In some ways it's been neglected - a lot of people don't realize what we have.

 We stay pretty close to home now. No more shooting acts, or Wild West shows up north like we used to. I'm more of a historian now.

 I think California is going to be a really good race because obviously the championship has been decided, but second, third and fourth are up for grabs. There's going to have to be some big things happen for those positions to change. Then I think you have the fifth through 10th pretty close. I think everybody's going to be going for broke.

 He knows the (Mountain West Conference), and that helped him. He also knows Southern California in terms of recruiting. We think it's a great fit for us.
