Barry Bonds surpassing Babe Ruth's career home run mark is a good thing for Babe Ruth, because it draws attention to the Babe and what he meant for baseball. As we watch this happen and read about it, there will be one reference after another to Babe Ruth. So we are looking at it as a positive thing. |
From the research I have done in this area, all signs point to Ruth having befriended the black ballplayers and enjoyed playing against them. I think if it had been left to Babe, the racial barriers would have been broken down many years before 1947 [the year Jackie Robinson broke the color line]. |
We've gotten more calls about the Babe now than ever. |
