The first period was kind of rough, but after that, we started working. We just needed to play more desperate. |
The first two periods it wasn't there, I don't know why. I was trying to create things but there were so many power plays, it's tough to get a feel for the puck and get your legs under you. But there's no excuses. I have to find a way to be ready. Obviously I didn't have the same jump but I don't expect myself to come in here and get three goals every night. It's not going to be a perfect night every time. |
The lead is important, especially at home. We stressed that. It was definitely nice to get the lead. |
The people in Buffalo called their supervisor from the baggage area out on the ramp, and I spoke to him, ... He said he had unloaded that plane and that he was positive it didn't happen here. |
The way we played the other night, then to come here and play like that, it's pretty obvious we weren't playing the same way. |
There was a lot of firsts: my first game, first goal, first penalty, ... Everything seemed to be a first thing for me, so everything kind of watched it that way. But things have died down a little bit. Not totally, but a lot more than what it was at the start of the season. |
There's a sense of urgency, but you can't push the panic button, ... It's not a time to tinker, because we've got the right guys to win games. |
There's no excuse at all. It's effort. It's moving your feet, it's making hits. You keep it simple, but when you do you create bounces -- you make your own bounces. |
There's no hiding the fact the last couple of games we weren't there, we weren't even in it. |
There's not going to be a lot of surprises for me if I can ask him beforehand and see how things work. That's the main thing, just being around him and seeing how he goes about things every day. |
They ask a lot of really surprising -- [and confidential] -- questions. |
They look good with your jeans. |
They said there really wasn't much they could do. |
They started early and they seemed to keep going throughout the game. They want to shut me down, get me off my game. I ended up taking one [penalty] and drawing one, so it's a good night for them. |
They try to keep a close eye on me, they just wanted to play the body and get their hands up a little bit when they're hitting. I expect every game to be physical. |
