I never wanted that to be an excuse or whatever. I will say this: People have hit some big shots on us -- and tough shots. Those two 3s were bombs. Maybe the karma is a little different, I don't know. But I think it's petty if you fall into that trap. They've been resilient and have not used that as an excuse. |
I normally am looking through the net to see, hopefully, it's a hot day and there are girls in tank tops out there. I'm a single guy, I'm looking for hot chicks on pit lane. That's all I'm doing. If I can't see them, normally there's a crew guy saying, you need to look at 11 o'clock to your left, check it out. |

I pray we are still a young and courageous nation, that we have not grown so old and so fat and so prosperous that all we can think about is to sit back with our arms around our money bags. If we choose to do that I have no doubt that the smoldering fires will burst into flame and consume us / dollars and all. |
I read The Civil War Infantryman , which talked about making 20-mile marches in the dead heat of summer in wool uniforms, then sitting down to eat salt pork. I'm sleeping in air-conditioned hotels, with good food every day and, like, a made-to-order omelet station. Who am I kidding about how difficult this is? |
I really enjoyed the performance tonight, and I've had a whole week of unknowns, being in bed with the flu. Ice is slippery, and anything can happen to anybody. I have seen that at numerous events. I am going to have fun out there and trust my training and not worry. I have figured out that worry doesn't help. |
I really hesitate to say it because he hasn't played a game yet, but he's really looking like what we're looking for there. For what he's had to learn and do in a short period of time here, he's been impressive. I would expect that he's going to be a good player this year and increasingly better in the future. |
I saw them beat Xavier on tape and that was just a tremendous win, and they come back and Saint Joseph's plays terrific and they don't shoot as well. That's what happens sometimes when you get a big win on the road, you come home and the kids relax a little bit and the other team kind of catches you off-guard. |
I suppose we could bring him back and let him pitch in Boston (next week) but he only threw 32 pitches the other day (against Triple-A Syracuse) and I don't think he'll throw a whole lot more (Thursday). I like keeping him on track to pitch on the 16th (at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago) without messing it up. |
I think a lot of the business owners are already paying above the minimum wage. The minimum wage is strictly a number that is set. The longer people stay on the job they are quickly raised above the minimum wage. I don't see us having a lot of seasonal jobs in the community. Most of our jobs are pretty steady. |

I think all you can really do (attending games) is see how they conduct themselves, their mannerisms, how the players respond to them and how they talk to the other coaches on the bench. I don't know if any of those in particular are earth-shattering pieces of information, but it's another piece to the puzzle. |
I think every person is their own person to an extent, but I think a lot of my opinions are shared in my family. Very often I'll bounce things off them. My family often acts as a conscience to me, and I think I represent a lot of the things in my family. I just happen to be the one that went in this direction. |
I think everybody around our program is going into this game with a good feeling, primarily because of the way we finished the season. Last year, we went into it losing two out of three and kind of scuffling, and this year were going in with everyone anxious, looking forward to it, wanting to get to the semis. |
