For us to compete with teams like that we have to play a near-perfect game, and of course we didn't do that.

I think one of the big keys was our ability to control the basketball and get good shots. We were able to run some clock off and shoot a good percentage. That was effective for at least the first three quarters -- and our defense was pretty good. Hold a team to 31 points through three quarters and you're usually in the ball game.

It was ugly -- 12 turnovers in the first quarter. I don't know if we got into the holiday fudge early or what, but it brought back visions of last year. I give (Reynolds) credit -- they played well. We also helped them, though.

That helped us stay in the game. That was what we were more accustomed to after going 4 of 14 from line against Dallas.

That was indicative of the trust he had in his principals. I was really fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him.

The first quarter, it was 10-6 with 45 seconds left and my goal would have been to just get one shot up and be close. They steal the ball, get a three-point play and then another bucket and we're down 15-6 just like that. It snowballed after that in the second quarter. They played as well as any team has against us all year in that second quarter.

They had a nice athletic group and they played a nice controlled, smooth, fluid game. They jumped out to a 22-4 first quarter lead, then we hung around, I guess you could say.

They pounded the ball inside on us -- both these teams did that to us. McMinnville had a 6-2 post and another good-sized 5-10 post and they just pounded us down there. When you look at McMinnville, that's what you'd expect, though.

We didn't play well and they did -- that's a nasty combination. We ran into a Forest Grove team that is fighting for a playoff spot, had a week off and I think we got their attention last time we played them.

We made a nice run at them in the second half -- got it down to six or eight. We made it interesting, but it was too big a hole. We missed a couple shots and we ran out of clock.

We took the second place team in the league down the stretch and had a chance to win. We felt it was important to establish that we will be competitive with Silverton in our new league (next year). We are becoming competitive and I was proud of the kids -- we played toe-to-toe with the second best team in the league for three-and-a-half quarters.

We won't check if they're real fans. We got an inflated football we were supposed to hang, but some kid popped it. What are you gonna do?

We've been in every game in the first have in the last few games. We've executed, made good shots and played pretty good defense. We tend to take a beating and get worn down against bigger teams, though.

We've had some good moments, just not complete efforts. I felt the kids played hard for four quarters. It was probably the most complete effort of the year, no doubt.
