I didn't want her to have to be retained. She had worked so hard to get through it and I didn't want to hold her back. I refused to. |
She was having trouble in kindergarten and we questioned it, but not a whole lot because she wasn't having that much trouble. Then, when she went to the first grade, they kept saying 'She's immature, she's immature' and we finally got her tested in the first grade and they said she needed speech therapy, which was a big problem. |
Supportive staff makes a tremendous difference. |
This is just so great. I feel much more optimistic because you struggle to find help and you finally find something that you think will work. |
We did the march in 1995 and it was wonderful, but we see that our people are still in the same position we were in 10 years ago - and in some cases worse off. So while a march is important, we'd like to see a movement. |
