I am thrilled to be a part of this history that we just made today. I'm more thrilled about the hope we gave to the 50,000 people whose livelihoods, directly and indirectly, depend on this industry. |
I expect to see Las Vegas style hotels. |
I knew the numbers were going to be good; I just didn't know they were going to be that good. It's very encouraging. |
It's a new market, though. I think the new market is made up of insurance people and construction and relief workers. |
It's just a quiet statement and I think it should be left that way. |
Several of the homeowners have pooled their resources to sell a land block. |
They would prefer to stay here if we had some rooms for them. If we can get the casinos, or at least a semblance of them, up and running, then that will give (relief workers) something to do. They're bored to death at night right now, literally bored to death. Even the ones driving back and forth to Mobile would prefer to stay here but we just don't have anywhere to put them. |
We have a restricted dog list. If a person has a dog on that list, they will not be able to get coverage. |
We're hoping maybe they can give us some input. It's unique there because you've got casinos, mega hotel resorts and condominiums. We think we're probably more akin to Las Vegas than to Destin, Fla. Destin was pretty much born of condominiums. They had a few hotels, but their condominiums are what put them on the map. |
We've had casino gaming here for 13 years. So we know we're going back at least 14 years. But if we can build onshore, we can get some semblance of business back in about nine months. |
With the lesser days of the month coupled with the fact that January had New Year's Eve, the busiest gaming weekend of the year, I'd read these as being very good numbers. |
