I had a nice proverb

 I had a nice slider tonight and I was able to elevate a few pitches on them and get fly balls.

 He was locating his fastball pretty well. He had a good slider and he didn't walk anybody. That's really important as a pitcher, getting ahead. We didn't do the things we should have done at the plate either. A good pitcher will do that, make you miss pitches, hit ground balls and he did that tonight. He kept us off balance, he threw well.

 He's probably the hottest hitter in baseball right now. And we didn't make some good pitches to him. When you elevate balls in the middle of the plate to him, he's not going to miss them. Certainly not when he's on one of those streaks.

 I was working on locating my pitches and throwing my slider for a strike. It was nice to get out there and face some hitters.

 It was a slider that didn't slide. It stayed right over the middle of the plate. A nice pitch to hit. Hey, he's getting a lot of money to hit those balls, so you can't make mistakes in those situations.

 He's the same as last year to me. He just has to control that slider a little better. Last year those balls were against the wall, caught. The ball was jumping tonight. There was a little breeze blowing out.

 He just gave up a ton of ground balls tonight that were infield hits and ones that got through. He just threw so many pitches.

 (Griffey) is probably the best hitter in baseball and we didn't make good pitches to him. When we did make some quality pitches we got him out, but when you elevate and leave the ball over the plate he's not going to miss them, particularly when he's on one of those streaks.

 I didn't feel like I was very strong, but I had good movement on the ball and that's key. Late in the games, you get movement and you can get a lot of ground balls. Elevate a little bit, and maybe you get fly balls. That's what I did. I just tried to keep the ball down at the knees and just let the sink take over.

 We made the plays. Every ground ball, we were fortunate enough to have it right at us. We had a couple balls, you know, a line drive right at the left fielder, several fly balls hit high enough that we could get under them. Some balls definitely went our way tonight.

 He didn't have his good stuff out there tonight. He hung a lot of balls and he didn't locate on a lot of his pitches, and we took advantage of it.

 For a couple of month's Ramon has done an outstanding job for us. But tonight he was up and over the plate with balls and they have outstanding hitters and you aren't going to get away with those pitches.

 That's why I was getting all those ground balls. It's tough to elevate.

 You get a pitcher to throw eight balls in a row like that (actually eight balls in nine pitches), and it can be hard for him to get back in the zone.

 The guy throws 95 pitches and pitches a complete ballgame, so we didn't put too many balls in play.
