(You) could die tomorrow. You've got to be aware of that. As a ski racer, that's definitely an option. You go 75, 80 miles an hour a lot of the time. You have to be focused on living each day the way you want in and of itself. |
[Miller won both races on this course last season.] Last year I blew the downhill open here, ... but I would expect two tight races this weekend. |
A little change in the light can make a giant difference in the time. I had great tactics, but today I made a couple of big mistakes. |
Arousal-control has been an issue for me since the beginning of my career. |
As far as my own personal involvement, I would not change anything. I had an awesome Olympics. My preparation certainly could have been different, but I'm not a guy who looks back. |
As soon as you do that, your race is over, |
Benjamin Raich is very strong at the moment. It doesn't make any sense given my current form to try and catch him in the overall standings. |
But I made one really silly mistake...it's hard to get too mad about that stuff. |
But there was no question in my mind that I was gonna still go for it. I was still going for the win. I wasn't skiing for second or third place today, and in the end I think that's probably what got me there. |
Fame is almost a poison. I couldn't care less, in fact I lived better when I was a nobody. Sport is born clean and it would stay that way if it was the athletes who ran it for the pleasure of taking part. But then the fans and the media intervene and finish up by corrupting it with the pressure that they exercise. |
He absolutely came out of the gate with the pedal to the floor and skied that way the whole way. He's one of those guys who has the right skills for this hill, and if he skis 100 percent and doesn't make the big mistake that costs you the time, he's a pick to win on this hill every time. |
He has this ambivalence with succeeding. It's part of who he is. |
He still has a long recovery ahead of him but things are going much better than the experts thought. We hope everything will soon be fine. |
He's been the leader on this team for a bunch of years. There's going to be a changing of the guard. |
He's getting a little bit old for such a reaction. He's going to give himself a heart attack. |
